James Robert “Big Jim” Jenkins, age 72, of RR 3, Wilson Ridge, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born in Preston County, October 31, 2011, a son of the late Amos Jackson Jenkins and Bessie D. (Colebank) Jenkins. His wife of 43 years, Minnie Pearl (Watkins) Jenkins, they were united in marriage March 23, 1968. Mr. Jenkins had worked for the State Road of WV, and was a firefighter and member of the Thornton Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years. He was a cattle farmer and enjoyed hunting. He was a Methodist by faith. In addition to his wife he is survived by: three sons, Robert Jackson Jenkins, William Glenn Jenkins, and James Snyder, all of Grafton; two granddaughters, Kayla Snyder and Danielle Snyder, both of Grafton; three great grandchildren, Nevaeh Snyder, Nicholas James Snyder, and Lillian Grace Skiles; several nieces and nephews; and one very good friend, Frannie Meluzio, of North Carolina. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five siblings, Walter Jenkins, Dorthea Mae Stealey, Hobert Jenkins, Hazel Martin, and Glenn “Mickey” Jenkins.
