James Robert Jackson, age 88, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, February 27, 2013, at his home in Gladstone.

James was born January 30, 1925, in Chicago, the son of Robert and Lucille (Anderson) Jackson. He was raised in Chicago and attended the Chicago schools. Following school, James enlisted in the United State Army and served with the Americal Division throughout WWII. Over the course of his enlistment, James received medals of accommodation which included; the Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 2 bronze battle stars, 4 Overseas Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 bronze battle star. On June 26, 1943, James was united in marriage to the former Elaine Lorvig and together the couple raised two children, John and Janet. James eventually returned to Chicago where he worked for the United States Military until moving to Rock, MI in 1959. He remained in Rock and worked at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base, as a Supervisor of Supply, until 1983. At which time, James and Elaine moved to Gladstone where they have remained since. James was an enlisted soldier in the United States National Guard until 1960. He enjoyed fishing, hunting rabbits and was a lifelong coin and stamp collector. In addition, James was proud to be an upstanding Republican. He will be deeply missed.

James leaves to survive, his loving wife of 70 years, Elaine:

Jason (Yvonne) Jackson, James R. (Dolly) Jackson II,
and Jena (Tristan Penokie) Jackson
Great Grandchildren: Jacob and Zachary Neal and Inara Jackson
Also listed among the surviving family is 1 niece and 1 nephew.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lucille.
