James Robert ‘Bob’ Carter
January 8, 1954 – January 30, 2017
Bob Carter was born in Beckley, West Virginia on January 8, 1954 and went home to his heavenly father in the early morning hours of January 30, 2017 in Walworth, New York. He fought bravely, but ultimately lost his year-long battle with brain cancer.
Bob was born to James (deceased) and Elizabeth (Smith) Carter of Danville, VA. He is survived by his wife, Julie (Sherwood) Carter, his children Hannah (Luke) Thomas, Anna (Ryan) Barrett, Jonathan (Kelly) Carter, and Erin Carter as well as six grandchildren. He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings Nancy Jackson, Susan Jasek, John Carter, and Mary Ann Calhoun as well as many other extended family members.
Bob was a committed follower of Jesus Christ, loving husband, father and grandad, son and brother. He had a never ending thirst for knowledge, and an endless capacity to love those around him. He was a steward of the outdoors and enjoyed countless trips to the Adirondacks with friends and family. His heart was fullest in the moments spent with those he loved, and considered his family among his most precious gifts. Patience, kindness, and a steadfast faith are a few of his most admired qualities and he will be remembered by his determination to treat others the way he wanted to be treated.
