James A. Richardson, the son of Patricia (Hyman) and Earl Dean Richardson, was born December 21, 1953 at Red Cloud, Nebraska. He departed this life on January 14, 2023, at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 69 years and 23 days.
A lifelong resident of Webster County, Jim grew up in the Guide Rock community and received his education attending the Guide Rock schools, graduating with the class of 1972. He continued his formal studies at Doane University on a full ride scholarship for one year. He returned to Webster county when he realized he wasn’t made to work indoors. He was united in marriage with Teresa Wulf on February 2, 1974, at the Salem Lutheran Church north of Superior. This union was blessed with two children, Brandi and Gregg.
They lived at Red Cloud until 1976, when they returned to the Guide Rock community to live on the farm. While Jim farmed part time, he was employed in residential construction in the Red Cloud community. In 1973 he began working for Howard Watson Construction. In 1980 he started working for Schulz Construction. He continued worked alongside Bob Schulz until he hung up his hammer in 1997. At this time he began farming full time and carrying mail as a substitute carrier. He cared for his cattle and land until his health prevented him from doing what he loved the most.
The highlight of his farming career was buying a John Deere combine that had a buddy seat for the grandson, Kolten. He loved working on God’s land every day and took pride in his yearly harvests.
In his leisure time, Tiny, as he was affectionately known by family and friends, enjoyed deer hunting, target shooting and was an avid sports fan especially following the Huskers, Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. He especially enjoyed attending NASCAR races with family and friends.
Preceding him in death was his father, Dean Richardson, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Loretta and Kenneth Wulf.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Teresa, of Guide Rock; daughter, Brandi Gay of Hastings, Nebraska and son, Kolten, and Dustin Gay; his son, Gregg Richardson and wife, Heather of Hastings and children, Trent and wife Faith, and children Duke and Grace; and Danielle and husband, Andrew; his mother, Pat Richardson of Guide Rock; sisters, Terrie Jackson and husband, Jerry of Franklin, Nebraska, and Kris Price and husband, Ryan of Concordia, Kansas; sister-in-law, Sandy Cooley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Kevin Wulf of Superior, Nebraska; beloved nieces and nephew, other relatives and a host of friends.
