James Rhoads, January 1, 1927 – August 5, 2014.
James Rhoads, 87, of Belton. James Rhoads passed away August 5, 2014 surrounded by his family. James was born January 1, 1927 in Breckenridge, Texas to Monnie Raye (Phelan) Rhoads and Andrew Jackson Rhoads. He married Colleen Renick, May 17, 1952, in Lampasas. Everyone who knew James knew how he loved his family. His wife and children were the light of his life and he never failed to show them his love. An avid outdoorsman, James loved to hunt with his dogs, fish and raise quarter horses to race.
As a custom builder most of his life, James built his home in Belton. His home truly was his castle and he loved cooking for his family and friends. James was a proud member of the U. S. Navy and served in World War II. His induction in to the Bell County Cowboy Ring of Honor, was one of his proudest moments. James is a member of the Anchor of Hope Fellowship Church in Belton.
He is survived by his wife Colleen, two daughters Becky and Linda; two sons Andy and Jim; one brother, Rev. R. V. Rhoads, one sister Sharon Billeck, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. We would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at the Texas Veterans Home Alzheimer’s wing.
