James Raymond Whittaker, 88, of Ingalls, passed away on March 7, 2018 at his residence. He was born on February 10, 1930 in Anderson, where he resided most of his life. He served his country in the Navy and he retired from Corefine.
He was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church and Elm Grove Christian Church. He enjoyed going to church, carpentry work, gardening, going out to eat, traveling, and spending time with his family.
James is survived by his wife, Yvonna Jeanne Whittaker; children, Stephen (Bobbi) Whittaker, Kathy (LeeRoy) Delp, Michael (Betty) Whittaker, Jana (Bud) McCorkle; sisters, Norma Sparks, Rosemary Chamberlain; grandchildren, Angie Baker, Judy Kelley, Jennifer Burris, Stacey Lycan, Jama Whittaker, Stephanie Large, Misty Deavers, Stephen Whittaker Jr., Amy Whittaker, Erica Tomlin, Matthew Downey, David Downey; step-grandchildren, Andrea Dahl, Michelle Delp, Shanda White, Stacie McCorkle, Monty Hendricks, Wayne Hendricks, Robert Hendricks; several great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Mildred Whittaker; father, Herbert Raymond Whittaker; brother, Carl Whittaker; sister, Phyllis Carlson; step-grandson, Scott McCorkle.
