Mr. James Raymond McGaughan
, 87, passed away on Sunday November 14, 2010 in the Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville.

Raymond was born in Kearny and was a life long resident. Mr. McGaughan served in the U.S. Army as a medic in the 168th Station Hospital during World War II. He was employed as a loan officer for the former Midlantic Bank in Bloomfield for 35 years. He retired 25 years ago.

Mr. McGaughan was a member of the Knights of Columbus Queen of Peace Council # 3428 in North Arlington as well as a member of the Albert Ettlin American Legion Post #36, East Newark. He was a board member of The Friends of Erin in Kearny. He served as a 3rd Ward Councilman in Kearny. He also served on the Kearny Board of Health for many years as well as serving two terms as board’s President. He served as the Treasure for the Democratic Organization of Kearny. He was an Usher at St. Stephen’s Church and also was St. Stephen’s School’s first Home School Association President. He also was a football referee for the NJSIAA.

He was predeceased by his siblings Lillian Kelleher and Francis and John McGaughan.

He is survived by his wife Janet (Stadel). He was the father of James R. McGaughan, Jr. (Kim) and Mary Ellen Azack (Frank). He was the brother of Ruth Dowling. He was the grandfather of Jimmy, Brandon and Matthew McGaughan.
