James “Ray” Wood, aka, Woody, 78, died on Thursday, February 18, 2022 at his residence in Dunnellon. He was born in Benson, North Carolina and was the son to the late David Archie and Naomi (Pope) Wood. He moved to Dunnellon in 1961 to care for his parents. In 1962 he attended barber school in Jacksonville. Ray married Brenda (Pickel) and raised three children, two sons and one daughter together.
He is preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Wood.
Ray is survived by his wife of 58yrs., Brenda Wood, Dunnellon; his son Michael G. Wood and his wife, Megan, Dunnellon; his daughter, Shonda Dinkins and her husband, Mark, Dunnellon; his grandchildren, Katelyn Wood and her fiancé, Alan King, and Reece Wood.
