James Ray Wilbanks, May 27, 1941 – December 8, 2011.
James R. Wilbanks (Jim/Jimmy), age 70, of McKinney, Texas died Thursday Dec 8, 2011 from complications of lung cancer. Jim was born May 27, 1941 in Belton, Texas to Wilma Garner Wilbanks and Delay Hiriam Wilbanks, both of whom preceded him in death. Jim attended all 12 years in Belton Schools where he played several sports, was co-captain of the 1958 football team graduating in 1959. He attended North Texas State University and received a B.A. in Business in 1963.
After graduation, Jim joined the USMC where he spent 4 years attaining the rank of Captain. After discharge from the Marine Corp, Jim worked for St. Regis Paper Company in Dallas, Texas followed by 20 years at Frito Lay, Inc. at their headquarters in Plano. He retired from Frito Lay in 2000.
Jim is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sue Griffin Wilbanks, daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Matthew Duncan of McKinney, Texas-Grandchildren Caroline and Griffin Duncan- Brother Robert Wilbanks of Denver, Colorado and his children Robert Jr. Wilbanks (Denise) of Knoxville, Tennessee and sons Darren and Ryan as well as daughter Julie Wilbanks, of Cocoa Beach, Florida her daughter Danille and brother William Wilbanks of Sun City (Georgetown) Texas. Sister-in-law and brother-in-law Montez and Terry Tice of Frisco, Texas and their children, Matthew (Julie) Tice, Meridith (Craig)Haveman, Tiffany (Scott)Gunter, and several grand nieces and nephews. Jim was a God and country and family kind of man who loved the outdoors, ranching, family and friends gatherings, and traveling. He will be remembered as a man with a strong work ethic, unquestioned integrity, and a special dedication to family.
