James Rankin Thompson, age 85, of Crestview, passed away December 4, 2014, in Crestview. He was born May 13, 1929, in Jay, Florida, to the late John C. and Lydia Harold Thompson. James served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors and reading.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Chesley and Elmer, and sisters, Iva Rose, Juanita, Freida and Berniece.
James is survived by his loving wife, Minnie Dean (Hollinhead) Thompson; sons, Michael (Linda) Thompson, John (Bess) Thompson, Richard Thompson and Freddie (Danette) Thompson; a daughter, Jane (Steve) Smith; his brother, Lamar Thompson; seven grandchildren, Lee (Ashley), Brad (Mary), Kevin , Logan, Stephen, David and Kimberly (Rob); six great grandchildren, Victoria, Sophie, Phillip, Laura, Seth and Natalie.
