James R. Hunter, 82, of Anderson, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2012 at his residence.
He was born on August 5, 1930 in Lafayette, and lived most of his life in Anderson. James graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1948 and Purdue University in 1952 with a BSME degree. He attended Ball State for graduate work and received his Professional Engineering License. He is a retired engineer for Delco Remy Division of General Motors retiring in 1987 after 36.5 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was also the treasurer for the Gruenewald Historical House and volunteered at Conner Prairie Interactive History Park. He also enjoyed amateur radio, call numbers W9VMF and was active in Boy Scout Troop 302. James is survived by his son, Frank Beth Hunter of Oakland Township, MI, daughter, Mary Beth George West of Sherborn, MA, three granddaughters: Amanda Hunter, Kate West and Jill West, brother, Leo “Bud” Hunter in Cary, IL.
He was preceded in death by wife, Barbara D. Hunter, parents: Dr. Frank Hunter and Fern G. Nordstrom Hunter, sister, Mary Frances Hunter Mertz.
