Both parents precede him in death along with siblings, John, Edna, Alice, and the mother of his children, Jane Ross. James enjoyed gambling, rolling the dice, fishing, watching TV, and telling stories. Most of all James was a true a family man and always there to help anyone in need. James is survived by his wife, Vickie Gatlin, children, JoAnn (John) Senn, Tammy Berrera, James R. Gatlin Jr., Rickey (April) Gatlin, Tony (Lorena) Gatlin and Byran (Marie) Norris, siblings Henry (Carol) Gatlin, Larry Gatlin, Donna Gatlin, Paula (Bill) Logan, Frank (Cheryl) Gatlin, and Linda Long, 21 grandchildren, 23 great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
