Mr. James R. Carpenter, Age 72, of Vanceburg, Kentucky passed away Saturday October 27th, 2018 with his family by his side at the Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio after an extended illness.
James was born in Lewis County, Ky. August 30th, 1946 to the late Robert Lee and Bertha Cook Carpenter. James was a self-employed logger. He loved going to tractor shows and participating in tractor drives. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren.
Surviving James is his wife of 50 years whom he married August 31st, 1968 in Vanceburg, Rebecca Patton Carpenter.
One daughter- Tawnya Carver of Vanceburg, Ky.
One son- Jamie Carpenter of Vanceburg, Ky.
Two granddaughters- Terra and Kayla, and two grandsons- Jamie Lee and Ryan. Also three great-grandchildren survive who also will mourn his passing.
Preceded in death beside his parents was a son- Christopher Ray in 2016; five sisters- Opal Payne, Virgie Ginnard, Norma Farley, Virginia Evans, and Wanda Windsor. Two brothers- Johnny Carpenter and Jr. Carpenter.
