THE REVEREND JAMES R. BRADY

Pastor Emeritus of the former Immaculate Conception Church, Tremont, Pennsylvania, died Monday, 28 September 2015, at Holy Family Villa for Priests, Bethlehem, at the age of 86.
A native of Philadelphia, Father Brady was the son of the late Patrick J. and Rose C. (Clark) Brady. He is survived by his brother Patrick J. Brady, Media, Pennsylvania, and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his adopted family, the Dihn, Tran, and Suon families.
Father Brady attended Most Blessed Sacrament School and West Catholic High School, Philadelphia. He studied for the Priesthood at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Wynnewood, Pennsylvania.
Father Brady was ordained to the Priesthood on 29 June 1957 by The Most Reverend John F. O’Hara, C.S.C., Archbishop of Philadelphia, at the Church of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Philadelphia.
Father Brady’s first Priestly assignment was Parochial Vicar, Saint Margaret Church, Reading, followed by Parochial Vicar, Immaculate Conception Church, Allentown; Parochial Vicar, Saint Catharine of Siena Church, Mount Penn; Parochial Vicar, Saint John the Baptist Church, Pottsville, and Parochial Vicar, Immaculate Conception Church, Jim Thorpe. Father Brady was named Pastor of Immaculate Conception Church, Tremont, until his retirement.
During the course of his Priestly Ministry, Father Brady held the following Auxiliary Diocesan Assignments: Regional Associate Scout Chaplain, Lehigh County; Regional Director, Catholic Youth Organization, Carbon County; Regional Associate Scout Chaplain, Lehigh County; Regional Director, Catholic Youth Organization, Carbon County; Regional Director, Catholic Scouting, Carbon County, and Regional Director, Bishops’ Relief Agency, West Schuylkill County. Following his retirement as pastor of Immaculate Conception Church Father Brady ministered in Honduras, Central America. There he built a church, a school for poor boys, and a computer laboratory. In La Paz he constructed a seminary with a beautiful chapel. In that area he established also a home and school for poor girls which he entrusted to the care of Franciscan Sisters. In addition Father Brady served as a civilian chaplain at the U.S. Southern Command’s Soto Cano Military Base.
