James R. Allen, 79, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at his residence. He was born September 27, 1937, in Jacksonville, the son of James Lee and Marie Davis Allen. He married Delores L. Mason on June 7, 1956, at the home of Rev. William J. Boston.
He is also survived by two sons, Christopher (Angela) Allen and Steven (Shelle) Allen, all of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren, Jacob Neff, Jordan Cox, Brooke Allen, Madison Allen, Logan Busch, Ephraim Busch, and Emma Busch; two great-granddaughters, Alexis Neff and Masin Cox; three brothers, Donald Allen of Jacksonville, Leonard Allen of Rushville, and Bill Allen of Jacksonville; and two sisters, Judy (Jim) DeOrnellas of Fairfield, IA, and Barb (George) DeOrnellas of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jimmy Allen in infancy; and two sisters, Donna Edminston, and Virginia Couch.
Mr. Allen was a Forman for Mobil Chemical, retiring after 29 years of service. After retirement, he worked several years for Gary’s Collision Center in Arenzville. A Veteran of the U.S. Army, he was also a member of the Moose Lodge, Prairieland Heritage Museum Institute, and Classic Chevy Club International. James was an avid race fan, enjoyed car shows, and he was very proud of his 1955 Chevy. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and he cherished his 60 years of marriage.
