James P. Robinson of Shalimar, Florida passed away January 30, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. Jim was loved by many and liked by all.
Jim was born November 1, 1933 in New Bern, NC to Preston and Katy Robinson. He joined the United States Air Force at the age of 17 and proudly served his Country for 26 years, which included one tour of Korea and two tours of Viet Nam. After retiring from the Air Force, he went to work as an x-ray technician for the old Fort Walton Beach Hospital until it was converted to the Fort Walton Beach Extended Care Facility. At that time, he became the Assistant Administrator for the facility. Jim also worked as an x-ray technician for Orthopedic Associates and Dr. Michael Glenn in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
Jim was an active and proud member of the Moose Lodge #2193 where he served as Governor, The American Legion Post 235, and The VFW Post 7674.
Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joanne Robinson of Shalimar; son James J. Robinson of Hawaii, daughter Karen Jarman and her husband Jackie of Harrisburg, NC, daughter Teresa Stanley and her husband Michael of Mary Esther, FL, daughter Diane Baxter of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Kathy Checchin and her husband Rick of Murfreesboro, TN. Ten grandchildren, Crystal Muller, Rachel Shumaker, Patrick Stanley, Kevin Stanley, Kimberly Robinson, Erik Stanley, James Robinson, Richard Checchin, Matthew Baxter, and Kyle Checchin and four great grandchildren, Christopher, Amelia, Sophia, and Haley also survive Jim.
Jim is also survived by two brothers, William Robinson of Clearwater, FL, and Lyle Robinson of St. Louis, MO.
