James Eugene “Jim-Jimmy” Phillips, 59, of Salem, IL passed away April 28, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family. Born March 5, 1961, in Salem, he was the son of William “Junior” Phillips and Betty L. (Phelps) Phillips and they preceded him in death.
Prior to his becoming disabled, he worked in maintenance in the local hotel and disposal industry. He was of the Christian faith. A true outdoorsman, he loved to fish, vegetables,s and flower gardens. He loved spending time with his family, camping, going to Cave In Rock and exploring at Garden of the Gods. He married Janet L. Bell, April 11, 1981 in Salem and she survives, along with their children, James Robert Mason Phillips and fiance Kaitlyn Davis of Salem, Riley James Stanley of Salem, Tisha Costello of Centralia, Melissa (Mikey) Graham of Salem, Tiffany Lynn (George Moss) Phillips of Salem and Alexis Nicole (Daniel James) Cripps of Salem. Also, grandchildren Maddie Costello, Chaz, Zendaya and Zane Brannon, Mariah and Maria Meredith, Mikey Graham II, Mason, Mackenzie, Mackey, and Michaela Graham, Antonio and Jacoby Diaz, Shiloh, Drayden, Chyna, Elijah, and Darnell Moss, Aaliyah and James Robert Mason Phillips, Jr. He was anticipating the birth of his first great-grandchild, Easton James Cripps.
Also left to mourn his passing are siblings, Aaron, Bruce and Danny Phillips all of Salem, Nancy Walker and Mary Halam of Arizona, Barbara Sanders of Odin, IL, and Julie Porter of Salem.
