James Perry Cleaveland, affectionately known as Perry, died Monday, August 29, 2016, surrounded by immediate family.

He was born July 3, 1936, in Takoma Park, MD. Graduated Montgomery Blair Senior High School in 1954. He served in the US NAVY from 1956-1960. 

He was a consummate salesman, starting off as a route driver for Morningside Laundry. Working for such companies as, Sterling Laundry, Economics Laboratories, Curtis Industries, National Calculator, Cannon USA, Olivetti, and for the last 20 years, Beiler’s Structures. 

He leaves behind, Sister Maryann Bratburd of Ashburn, VA, Brother Brad Cleaveland of Berkley, CA, Brother Steve Cleaveland (Tony) of New York City, Son Brad Cleaveland (Libby) of Frederick MD, Daughter Dawn (Corbin) Dean of Lewes DE and five grandchildren, Brad Cleaveland, (JR) of Nashville, TN, Melissa Cleaveland of Woodbridge, VA, Christopher Perez of Los Angeles, CA, Timothy Perez (Brianne) of Frostburg, MD, Kelsey Dean (Thomas) of Dover, DE, and three great grand children. Gary Mertz, whom he considered a son, and Skylar Mertz, whom he considered a granddaughter.

He also leaves behind many Facebook friends.
