BARBERTON – James P. “Jim” Kennedy, 89, died peacefully in his sleep on March 2 at his home, with his wife Pauline by his side.
Jim was born in Akron to the late Emmett and Mary (Payne) Kennedy, and lived in the Barberton/Akron area his entire life. Jim graduated from Kenmore HS in 1946 where he was a member of the swim team. For 4 years he worked as a brakeman for the Pennsylvania Railroad, he served 11 years in the U.S. Naval Reserves, and he sold automobiles for 44 years, including over 40 years at Wallace Lincoln Mercury. Jim was a charter member of St. Francis de Sales Parish, he belonged to the Knights of Columbus #1617, and participated in the St. Augustine Holy Hour program.
