James P. “Jim” Nyberg, 79, of Jacksonville, IL died Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville.

He was born May 6, 1936 in Ashland, WI, the son of Clarence and Myra Taylor Nyberg.

He is survived by three children, Michael Nyberg (wife, Mary) of Jerseyville, Brian Nyberg (wife, Katie Phelps) of Jacksonville, and Tina Knox of Jacksonville; two grandchildren, Jonathan Deshasier of Hawaii and Erika Deshasier of Jacksonville; several nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Margaret “Peggy” Nyberg of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Clarence “Bud” Nyberg.

James was a graduate of Depadua High School and Northland College, both of Ashland, WI. He served several years with the US Navy including service aboard the USS North Hampton during the Cuban missile crisis in the early 60’s.

He was employed with General Telephone in Wisconsin prior to his relocation to Jacksonville to join Teksonics, where he worked for over 20 years. He later became a partner in Cityscape Communications, Jacksonville’s first internet service provider. In his retirement, he provided computer repair services for Jacksonville area families. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed Wii bowling.
