James P. Nichols, 71
Averill Park – James P. Nichols, 71, died October 19, 2008 at St. Peter’s Hospital after a brief illness. His is now at home with the Lord.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late Kenneth E. and Alma (LaMore) Nichols and husband of Dorothy Lund Nichols.
He was a graduate of Troy High School and resided in Averill Park for the last 15 years.
He was the owner and operator of the Nichol’s Pet Center in Cohoes in the 60’s and 70’s, but most recently was employed by Kraft Foods as a food broker.
Jim enjoyed boating, fishing, the Boston Red Sox and especially loved vacationing on Cape Cod. He had a deep faith in God. He was a US Army veteran.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three children, Kenneth (Colleen) Nichols of Puyallup, WA, Michelle (Joseph) Houser and James (Julie) Nichols all of Cohoes; 11 grandchildren, Kenneth J., Theresa A., and Christine M. Nichols of Puyallup, WA, Scott and Sean Littlejohn, Daniel Sickles, Abby Houser, Franchesca, James Jr., Jacob, and Mya Nichols all of Cohoes, NY; 5 great grandchildren and a niece and a nephew, Jennifer (Rick) Cignerelli. He was predeceased by his sister, Shirley A. Millington. Jim loved his dog, Tyler, his constant companion.
