 James Patrick Landers, 65, a retired East Haven Police Lieutenant, entered into rest peacefully at home on April 27, 2012. He was the beloved husband for 43 years of Carole Nicoll Landers. Born in Melrose, Mass. on Nov. 2, 1946, he was the son of the late James R. and Alice McNealy Landers. A 1964 graduate of WakefieldHigh School, Wakefield, Mass., he graduated from UConn in 1968 with a BA degree in political science. He was a 2nd lieutenant in the Army ROTC and served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. He was in the Military Police and was discharged as a 1st lieutenant. He attended police science classes at Univ. of Bridgeport and Univ. of New Haven and joined the East Haven Police Dept. in 1972. He served for 31 years before retiring as a lieutenant in 2006. He was respected by his fellow officers for his intelligence and his humor. He dearly loved his faithful companion, Beau, along with the Boston Red Sox, UConn men’s basketball and Dunkin Donuts coffee. He enjoyed reading various newspapers to keep up with current events. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kerry L. Landers, R.N. of Boston; a son Sean W. Landers, Esq. and his wife, Jillian Ruggiero Landers of Orlando, FL.; sister in law, Evelyn Nicoll of Hamden; nephews, Scott (Heather) Nicoll of Meriden, Brian (Jennifer) Nicoll of Chandler, AZ. and Matthew (Amy) Langan of Quincy, Mass.; as well an uncle and many aunts and cousins from Georgia and Massachusetts. He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Langan., 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight)  New Haven  Friday, May 4th at 11:30.
