Obituary of James P. Kreiser

Jim passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of his home in Mendota Hgts., MN on September 8th, 2017. Jim leaves behind children, Melissa (John) Warren and Tim Kreiser; grandchildren, John, Avery, and Alyssa Warren; brother, Chuck (Peggy); brother-in-law, Edward Munno and sister-in-law, Bonnielynn; along with many loved nieces, nephews, and great friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Betty (Kingsley); three brothers, Steven, Richard, Robert and his sister, Susan Munno. Jim was born in Minneapolis on Aug. 28th, 1950 and moved to Westwood, Mass. at a young age with his family. He graduated from Westwood High School and returned to the Twin Cities to attend the University of St. Thomas where he graduated in 1972. Jim began a lifelong career at the Green Mill in the late 1970s. He served many roles in his time at the Mill with the majority of his career being the General Manager and brand leader of the Green Mill in St. Paul. It was through his career in the restaurant business that he developed many valued lifelong friendships; including those with his outdoors companion Chris Bangs, his dear friend Mary Jule Erickson, and the entire Hightop Hospitality team. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and Twins enthusiast. He loved spending time with his family down at his brother’s farm in Kansas. He also enjoyed the many memories made with all of his friends and storytellers at Deer Camp. Jim was known for his great sense of humor, kind heart, and gentle demeanor.
