James Otha Ivy, 76, was promoted to his heavenly home on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at his childhood home surrounded by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Ivy and his sister Estelle Ivy Neal. He leaves his wife of 33 years, Patricia (McCrory-Helton) Ivy; his children, Shannon Ivy Porter, Stacey Ivy Wasdin, Sherry (Allen) Ivy Reed, Danny Ivy, Ricky (Christi) Ivy, Richard (Sherry) Helton, Russell (Monica) Helton; his sister, Marie (Homer) Ivy Ferguson; eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, his cousins, nieces, nephews and many close friends.

 

 

 

Born in Quitman, MS, the son of Sam and Anna (McDaniel) Ivy, he was a lifelong resident of Semmes. In his early years, Mr. Ivy worked in the grocery business and later in the automotive service industry. He spent many years farming and loved growing a garden. He was an avid softball player and waterskiier. He and his wife traveled all over the US in their RV and enjoyed camping. He was a master woodworker and loved gospel singing. Mr. Ivy was very active in his church, Pathway Ministries, volunteering in many capacities to serve others. He served on the First Impressions Team at had a great sense of humor and a personality that drew people to him. He was loved by many.
