James O. Engle, 71, of Wallingford, passed away Friday, June 3, 2016, at his residence. He was the widower of Jean Engle.
Born December 23, 1944, in Kodak, KY, he was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Marie Sumner Engle.
James was a retired Detective Sergeant (2nd in command) of 27 years with the police department in New Milford, CT. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves and an avid NRA supporter.
He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth (Terry) Armstrong of Wallingford, and Kathy (Scott) Engle-Dulac of Warren, CT; grandchildren, Emalie Armstrong, Ethan Armstrong, Immanual Manning, Forrest Randall, Kenyon Carroll, Matthew Archer, Jr., James Dulac, Austin Armstrong, Terence Armstrong, Jonathan Richardson, Shawnta Crandall and Dylan Armstrong; and three special grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brothers, Wayne (Carol) Engle of Stamfordville, NY, Ben (Betty) Engle and Vaughn (Billie Drew) Engle, both of Celina, OH.
In addition to his wife and parents, James was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hayley Armstrong; brothers, Charles Engle and Billy Engle; and sisters, Thelma Turner, Jewel Gerwels and Florene Dubbioso.
