Hagerstown, MD – James Mumphford “Jim” German, 93, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Homewood at Williamsport.
He was born on June 25, 1929, in Cumberland, MD to the late John Clinton German and Edna Virginia King German.
Jim was a 1947 graduate of Allegany High School in Cumberland, MD. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Frostburg State College in 1953.
Jim was employed by Western Maryland Railroad and CSX for over 25 years as a Communication and Signals Supervisor until retiring in 1981.
He learned to read and write brail after losing his vision.
He was a former member of the Holy Trinity UCC in Halfway, MD and was very involved in the Church.
Jim was very involved in the ARC of Washington County.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Elizabeth Anne “Betty” German; son James Todd German; son Tracy D. German and his wife Christy Moore-German; granddaughter Emily German; numerous nieces and nephews.
