He was born on September 7, 1963, in Washington, DC, to the late Jeanette Gerald and James Moses Smith, II. He was also raised by his beloved grandmother, Ms. Effie Britt. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dwayne and sisters, Wanda and Tina.
James attended DC Public Schools and the University of the District of Columbia majoring in nursing. He obtained a certificate in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning and also a certification in counseling. James owned a catering service with his fiancé named James and Kathy’s Catering. He enjoyed his family, hand dancing and throwing cabarets.
James leaves to cherish his memories, his fiancé Kathy; two sons, Jermaine and Dwayne; two daughters, Jamesha and Butter; two grandchildren; his sister Doretha, his brother Darryl and a host of other relatives.
