James Melvin Hunt the son of Glenn and Georgia (Thompson) Hunt was born February 11, 1938 in Fairbury, NE. He departed this life Wednesday February 10, 2010 at his home in Hebron, NE at the age of 71 years.
Jim grew up in the Fairbury area and graduated from Fairbury High School. He managed three different stores for Hested-Newberry Co for 17 years, and served as district manager of Denver area stores. When he returned to his home town of Fairbury, NE in 1970 he bought the Pepsi Distributorship and operated it for 8 years. In 1978 Jim moved to Hebron, NE and worked for Les Reinke in the construction business and in the lumber yard.
Jim married Judy Bever on December 20, 1989 at Belleville, Kansas.
Jim was an independent contractor for 25 years working in Hebron and surrounding areas. He enjoyed building and remodeling, using God’s gifts.
Jim enjoyed fishing with his wife Judy and the family, telling jokes, and just having a good time no matter what was going on. He restored antique cars and loved driving them in parades.
He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus, Jaycee’s, Civil Defense of Big Horn County, Kiwanis Club, Elks Club, and held numerous positions with the city of Hebron.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Jackie Grell and Bobbie Dewey.
He is survived by his wife Judy of Hebron, NE, two sons; Jim Hunt and wife Bobbi of Phoenix, AZ and Thom Hunt and wife Irene of Fairbury, NE. Four daughters; Mary Criner and husband Jim of Endicott, NE, Brenda Krause and husband Rick of Olatha, KS, Susie Hunt of Kendaville, IN, and Dawn Anderson and husband Mike of Shelby, NE, grandchildren; Brandon, Amanda , Skyler, Jamie and Casey Hunt, Tommi Mitchell, Alekzander, and Mikelnaglo Hunt, Amber and Jory Criner, Sage, Samantha, Nicole, Madison, McKenzie Krause, Kylie Jaymes Anderson, one sister Mary Jo Castigliano and husband Dick of Prescott, AZ, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
