James McInerney, age 84, of Fairfield, beloved husband of 51 years of Johanna (Joan) O’Connell McInerney, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family Saturday, January 9, 2021.
Born in Kinvara, County Galway, Ireland, the son of the late Michael and Winifred (Davenport) McInerney, he had been a Fairfield area resident since emigrating from Ireland in 1960. He worked at St. Augustine’s Cathedral until 1969 when he began a long and rewarding career as a mechanic for the CT Light and Power Company, retiring in 2000. Following his retirement, Jim worked as a school crossing guard in Fairfield and as a security guard at South Benson Boat Marina. A man of unlimited energy, Jim loved all the jobs he held from the time he came to the States.
