James E. McGarrity, 69, of Easton, MD, passed away just before midnight on October 13, 2017. He was born July 19, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA to the late James E. McGarrity Sr. and Jeanne (Clark) McGarrity. He was the husband of his beloved wife, Alice (Gibson) McGarrity with whom he shared 43 years of marriage.
He was a graduate of Gannon University and received Masters degrees in History and English from Salisbury University. He was a teacher, a professor, local business owner, and volunteer. He will be remembered for his humor and quick wit, but mostly for the love of his friends and family.
He is survived by his Wife, Alice McGarrity; Children Patrick McGarrity (Sarah Webster), Sharon Sowers (Shane Sowers), Ann Zseltvay (Erik Zseltvay); Grandchildren Sean McGarrity, Quinn McGarrity, John McGarrity, Joseph McGarrity and Rory Sowers; brother’s Tom and Joseph McGarrity, sister’s Mary Jean McGarrity and Gail Shults, their spouses, and his many nieces, nephews and cousins.
