James Martin Kerkstra, 67, a resident of Tallahassee, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on April 7, 2015.
Born June 27, 1947, in Chicago, he was the son of the late Martin Kerkstra and the late Geraldine VanWie Kerkstra. He honorably served in the US Navy and retired as a Regional Personnel Manager. He was an avid reader, loved collecting custom-made pocket knives, and enjoyed studying survival techniques. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carol Thomas Kerkstra; children, Jami Kerkstra-Ropes (husband, Stephen) and Katie Forgette (husband, Tony); grandson, Jackson Kerkstra-Ropes.
