James M. Sobanski, age 73, lifelong resident of Milford and devoted husband of 49 years to Virginia Milewski Sobanski, passed away on March 14, 2015 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport on October 9, 1941, he was the son of the late Julius and Helen Blasko Sobanski.  A graduate of Milford HS, Jim began his career as a hairdresser and eventually became a co-owner and operator of Cameo Salon of Beauty in Norwalk. When he closed the business, he became employed as a machinist with Central Tool and Machine Co. for 30 years, retiring in 2006.

In his retirement, Jim looked forward to walking at the mall with the “boys” every weekday morning and then meeting at Panera’s for “coffee” where he renewed old friendships and forged new ones.  An avid car enthusiast, he also enjoyed fishing, bowling and maintaining his lawn and gardens. A devoted family man, Jim especially enjoyed hosting large summer parties and holiday celebrations where he could display his cooking skills and spend quality time with his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their children.

In addition to his wife, Ginny, Jim is survived by his loving daughters; Jenifer Basroon (Andy) and  Dana Harre (Jim) and his adored grandchildren, Jason and Jessica Basroon and Brennan, Mollie and Kellie Harre. He will also be missed by his sisters, Jeanne Yurch, Mariane Cassavechia (Paul) and Jo-Anne Lucia (Glen), brothers-in-law, Richard Milewski (Kathleen), Milton Milewski, sister-in-law, Paula Grivalsky, mother-in-law, Anne Milewski and his special childhood friend Robert Canevari.
