James M. Smith, Sr., 81, formerly of Fountain Hill, died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Arden Court in Allentown. He was the husband of the late Dolores A. (Redding) Smith who died on 11/11/2005. Born in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was the son of the late Merritt and Helen (Werkheiser) Smith. James proudly served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked as an installer for Bell Telephone Co. for 37 years, until retiring. He was a member of St. Ursula Catholic Church in Fountain Hill, Fountain Hill Hose Co. #1 and the Allentown VFW post 2124. Survivors: he will be lovingly remembered by daughters Patricia J. Desh and her husband Edward of Bethlehem, Diane E. Shively and her husband David of Orefield, Dolores Smith and Sharon H. Smith both of Windham, Maine; son James Smith Jr. of Bethlehem; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
