James M. Lee, 83 of Freeport passed away peacefully at Winn Prairie on Sunday, March 13, 2022. He was born May 21, 1938, to the late Ronald and Alice (Shawver) Lee in Sac City, Iowa. He married Mary Keyes on June 19, 1960, in Marithon, Iowa. Together they raised three children.
James was a veteran of the Army serving from 1958 to 1962. He was also a member of Harmony United Methodist Church of Freeport. He served in many capacities in the area. He was the Past President of the Monroe Clinic Board of Directors. Past President of the Freeport Art Museum Board of Directors and he also served as President of Furst McNess. He was an avid woodworker, he loved to travel, boat, read and he loved to take his family to their summer home at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Surviving him are his wife of Freeport, Sons, Jeffrey (Melissa Kiple) Lee of West Burlington, IA; Brian (Sharon) Lee of Mission Viejo, CA and daughter, Jennifer (Terri Apking) Lee of Freeport. His legacy also includes 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Lee.
