James L. Lockhart, Sr., 92 of North East, MD, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017 in the Perry Point VA Medical Center, Perry Point, MD.

Born in Jasper, AL, on January 8, 1925, he was the son of the late Charles Lockhart and the late Leila (Dill) Lockhart.

He was a commissary officer, employed by Aberdeen Proving Ground from 1975-1987. James also proudly served in WWII with the United States Army. He was a member of the 29th Division and received many honors and awards which included a Purple Heart.

Jim loved life and being around people. He had a kind soul and cared about everyone. Most of all he enjoyed lots of things in life there were so many. His favorite ones were food, music, dance, entertainment, travel, telling stories and fishing. He could make anyone smile and laugh in a heartbeat. He will be missed and loved forever.

He was preceded in death by his first wife: Jessie Lowe Lockhart; second wife: Florence Lee-Lockhart; brother and sister.

Survivors include his three beloved children: James L. Lockhart, Jr of GA; Linda Lockhart-Turner of AZ; Christina L. Lockhart of MD; one sister; five grandsons; seven great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
