James Lawrence Glardon was born on March 1, 1939 to Elisha and Zella Glardon at Lamb Hospital in Denver, Colorado. He was raised on a farm near Brighton. After being advanced from first grade to third grade he continued schooling through High School in Fort Lupton. During those years he worked with his dad on the family farm milking cows, raising hogs and growing wheat, barley and sugar beets.
On February 20, 1960, James was united in marriage to Barbara Lee Areta in Portland, Oregon. That winter he worked at the Great Western sugar beet factory in Brighton. They lived and farmed near Erie until 1970 when they built a home on the family farm outside of Brighton. They continued farming until the present.
They had three children: Kevin James, Randall Lee and Tammy Jeanne.
James is survived by his loving wife Barbara; his children, Kevin, Randy and Tammy (Randy); along with 5 grandchildren, Joshua, Alisha (Joe) Sutherland, Ashlee, J.J., and Jesse (Kim), one great grandson, Silas James (Joe and Alisha’s), and a great-granddaughter on the way, (Joe and Alisha). James is also survived by his siblings, Arlyne Glardon, Martha (Ken) Quenzer, David(Cynthiann) Glardon as well as sisters-in-law, Joyce (Earl) Hare, Sylvia Areta, Sharon (C.R.) Moreth, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
