James “Larry” Reynolds of Midland passed into heaven Wednesday evening March 19th, 2014 at MidMichigan Gladwin Pines Nursing Home.
The son of the late John A. and Mildred P.(Malloy) Reynolds was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan on July 28, 1930. There he was raised, educated and graduated from St. Paul Catholic School in 1949.
Larry then served his country in the Air Force for three years during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return, he then attended Michigan State University. He managed Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw for many years, and then managed Midland Memorial Gardens until his retirement in 1995. During this time Larry also owned and operated Reynolds’ Hallmark Shop in Midland with his wife, Mary.
Larry had many other side jobs and was a salesman for Fuller Brush for over 18 years. He was a loyal Tigers and Lions fan, and we can’t forget his love for Spartan football. His love of music, reading newspapers, yard work, and traveling with his wife to visit friends and family were some of his favorite things to do. Larry was also a member of King’s Daughters and Sons of Midland where he enjoyed calling bingo for the residents.
Surviving is his wife of 39 years, the former Mary L. Williams, of whom he married on August 10, 1974; son, Craig Watters and daughter Jan Watters, both of Traverse City; brother, Dennis (Ethel) Reynolds of Yale, Michigan; sisters, Barbara Terry of Grosse Pointe, Sally (Joe) Macaluso of Abita Springs, LA; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother Jack Reynolds and his brother-in-law Syd Terry.
