He was a construction worker up until a heart attack in 2012 caused him to become disabled and ineligible to . Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Frances Bivens Jones and Calvin Marvin Jones; his sister, Sara Frances Jones Goodwin. He is survived by wife, Debbie Chaffin Jones of Nolensville; step-son, Steven Chaffin of Concord, New Hampshire; son, James Jones Jr. of Nolensville; daughters, Melissa Jones and Sarah Jones of Nolensville; brothers, Hugh (Brenda) Jones of Eagleville, Randy (Jean) Jones of Murfreesboro, and Mike Jones of Shelbyville; one . Jones will be cremated at TriStar Cremation.
