James L. Whetstine, 75, of Trafalgar, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017. He was born to Lester and Roseanne (Ratliff) Whetstine in Franklin.
He worked at the FFA Center as a carpenter for 28 years. Prior to that he worked with his brother in the carpentry business, providing service to the Franklin area. On November 16, 1961 he married his wife, Jennifer they were married for 56 years. Throughout his life, James was an avid hunter, not just animals, but also mushroom hunting. He loved working on cars, gardening, and spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Sue (Walker) Whetstine of Trafalgar; a daughter, Amy Baker of Indianapolis; a son, Jon (Misty) of Brown County; a sister, Patricia Frost of Franklin; eight grandchildren: Jon Jr., Dawn K. Cade, Kenzi Dine, Addison Whetstine, Kenneth McDougall, Ashley McDougall, Kyra Roberson, and Kaleigh Baker; eight great-grandchildren: Brent Cade, Alex Cade, Eric Cade, Aubrey McDougall, Rylan Honeycutt, Addyen Roberson, Shledon Roberson, and Brianna Ingle. James was preceded in death by his two brothers: Charles Whetstine, and Bobby Gene Whetstine.
