James L. “Jim” Johnson, 71, of Cassopolis, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.
He was born July 18, 1941, in Briceville, Tenn., to Ulyess and Annie (Jefferies) Johnson.
On Nov. 2, 1962, he married Geneva (Miracle) Johnson.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Michael Johnson and William (Tammy) Johnson, both of Cassopolis; three daughters, Anna (George) Tores, Gloria (Pat) O’Connor, and Sheila Bradshaw, all of Elkhart, Ind.; brother Chester (Patsy) Johnson of Elkhart; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Three of his grandchildren, Christopher Johnson of Edwardsburg, and David Johnson and Lacy Johnson, both of Elkhart, were raised by Jim as his own children.
He will be missed by all his family, especially his loving wife of 50 years whom he celebrated in November 2012.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bob Johnson.
Jim was employed as a test driver for more than 15 years at Four Winds International prior to his retirement in 2000.
He often enjoyed fishing, playing billiards, watching Western movies, reading his Bible, and, most of all, spending time with his family.
