James L. “Jim” Parks, 61, of Ashland, IL, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2019, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born Aug. 30, 1958, in Tuscola, the son of Henry and Betty Stewart Parks. He married Mary Lewis and she survives in Ashland. Their marriage produced three daughters, Jamie (Shad) Eskew of Ashland, Lyndsey (Clayton) Belden of Ashland, and Brit (Andrea) Parks of Sherman.
He is also survived by five grandchildren, Anthony Eskew of Springfield, Austin Eskew of Ashland, Layni Belden and Caenyn Belden, both of Ashland, and Logan Mercer of Sherman; his girlfriend, Ruth (Kulenkamp) Lambert of Ashland; three sisters, Sharon, Wilma and Rhonda; one brother, Richard; and Jim’s 4-legged babies, Marge and Toby. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Butch and Billy; and one sister, Pamela.
Mr. Parks was a truck driver for Mark Stribling Trucking for many years. And had also worked at the Prentice Elevator. He had served on and retired from the Ashland Volunteer Fire Department. Jim enjoyed his big truck and his Jeep, and especially enjoyed taking care of his semi. He was a very loving father and grandfather.
