James L. Doolittle of Burlington City died Saturday July 12, 2014 at the Burlington Woods Convalescent Center in Burlington Twp., at the age of 85. Born in Walden, NY, Mr. Doolittle was a longtime Burlington resident. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with honor in the Army. He worked for 39 years for Rohm and Haas Co. in Bristol, PA, serving in many capacities, finally as a lab analyst until his retirement.
After retiring from Rohm and Haas he went on to work another 18 years for Morgan Tire Service in Burlington Twp. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, particularly with his sons and grandsons. He also enjoyed bowling and watching the Phillies. His family however was his first and greatest love, particularly spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed trips to Canada and Seaside, NJ with the family.
James is survived by his wife of 63 years, Edna Mae (nee Taylor), his children; Jimmy of New Lisbon, NJ, Bruce and Theresa and Ronald and Debra, all of Virginia and Sandra and Wesley Stillwaggon of Burlington, His grandchildren; Bruce, Jr., Jonathan, Karen, Amanda, Lauren, Erika, Brittany, Ryan, Justin and 5 adopted grandchildren as well as 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Olive Merring of New York, sister in law Ruth Carnivale of Burlington and brother in law and sister in law Walt and Catherine MacDonald as well as several nieces and nephews.
