James Delbert Koontz, 83, of Crestwood, passed away Thursday, March 17th, 2016 at Friendship Health and Rehab.
A native of Owensboro, he was born February 22, 1933 to Victorine and Huey Koontz.
Jay was very athletic growing up, playing baseball, football and tennis.  He was a member of the US Army Reserve.  He moved to Oldham County
after graduating from the University of Kentucky School of Pharmacy, where he then married Margaret Ott. He then  opened and operated Crestwood Pharmacy and several other business for many years.  He was active in many community oriented activities believing that his commitment and volunteering was making the community a better place.  He coached Jaycees baseball teams, and was very active in the Republican Party activities for many years.   
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victorine (Quisenberry) Huey Delbert Koontz, and wife, Margaret Ott Koontz.  
He is survived by his 2 half sisters, Judy Spence and Shirley Koontz both of Owensboro; 3 sons, R. Louis, Robert B. (Beverly), James A. (Dawn) Koontz; 6 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
