James Kirkpatrick Goodell (Kirk), 67, of Newnan GA, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. He was born August 19, 1953 in Atlanta. He grew up in Newnan and graduated from Newnan High School in 1973. After high school, he went to Warm Springs for vocational training. He managed Newnan City Animal Control for over 24 years. Kirk had an indominable spirit. He never met a stranger and could talk to anyone. He always had a joke or funny story to share. He loved to reminisce and tell stories about other people, but he never took credit for anything he did. He spent many hours watching old westerns and television shows and knew all of the theme songs and plots by heart. He enjoyed asking others trivia questions to show off his vast knowledge of them. He loved animals and Auburn University. He enjoyed listening to the oldies, attending Braves games, fishing with his dad and brothers, bowling with his brothers and watching Auburn Football games. He is preceded in death by his parents Anne and Dr. Charlie Goodell. He is survived by his siblings Karen Webb, Charles Bolman Goodell (Hop), William DeForest Goodell (Billy) (Kriss), Katherine Bell (Dean); his nephews Charles Warren Webb (CW) (Stephanie) and Allyn Alexander Bell (Alex); and his great nephew Greisyn Allyn Dean Bell. The family would like to thank the staff of Newnan Health and Rehabilitation for the wonderful care he received the last twenty years. He considered it is home and his caregivers Donna Garrett, Angelia Paige and Tammy Davis his sisters.
