James K. Mitchell, 89 of Boerne, Texas, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He succumbed to a long battle with heart disease. After attending 5 years at the Sewanee Military Academy in Tennessee, he then furthered his military service in the U. S. Army. He served in WWII earning his field commission as 2nd Lt. during the New Guinea Campaign. All that knew and loved him referred to him as “Uncle Jimmy.” Uncle Jimmy married Maxine Perry McIlwain 37 years ago and was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He led by example in teaching all who knew and loved him so very much to celebrate life and enjoy family heritage. Up to the very end, Uncle Jimmy lived his life on his terms. Survivors include his wife, Maxine; sons, James K. Mitchell, Jr., Steve Mitchell (Delorise), and Don Barry McIlwain, Jr. (Linda); daughters, Dede Middleton (Ron), Maggie Anderson (Ron), and Pamela Lanfear (Richard); grandchildren, Brad, Matthew, and Kate Mitchell, David Middleton (Dandy), Lath Middleton (Jamie), Sandy Zimmerman (Doug), Chris Holloway (Patty), Keitha Holloway, Betsy Mitchell Hinajosa (Tomas), Andy Aga (Liz), Christi, and Bryan Anderson, Sarah Elizabeth and Connor Lanfear; great grandchildren, Kristy, Joshua, Jacob, and Peggy Holloway, Cade and Ellis Middleton, Madeline and Layton Middleton, Zada and Zailey Middleton, Kelsey Holloway, Kade and Ally Aga, Evan and Ethan Hinajosa; great great grandchildren, Jacob, Jr. and Christopher Holloway; nephew, Craig York (Chris); niece, Susan Holder (Steven); great nephews, Billy and James York; great nieces, Candise and Carieann Holder.
