James K. Dunn, 89, passed away Monday Feb. 2, 2015 in Franklin. He was a resident of New Whiteland and lifelong resident of Johnson County. Jim was born August 10, 1925 in Franklin to Glen and Norris (Kerlin) Dunn.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.
Jim was employed with Exxon Mobil Heating Oil for 22 years, then worked at AFNB as a courier, Clark Pleasant Community Schools and later with Mr. D’s grocery in Whiteland as a stock person until it’s closing.
He was a member of the Whiteland United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Jubilee Masonic Lodge #746 all in Whiteland. He was an avid bicyclist, riding all around Johnson county. He was a baseball coach in Whiteland for many years. He was a Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers and New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed bowling, people, his friends and most of all family reunions and playing the card game Rook. Jim was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by three children, David (Lori) Dunn of Indianapolis, Janet (Holly Bourne) Dunn D.V.M. of California and Elaine (Ralph) Clark of New Palestine, sister, Ila Deen (Dick) Olson of Maryland, three brothers, Richard (Marilyn) Dunn of Rushville, Kenneth Dunn of Columbus and Hugh Dunn of Franklin, five grandchildren, Aaron Dunn, Kristen Cowden, Matthew Cowden, Joshua Cowden and Ethan Dunn and four great-grandchildren, Aiden Dunn, Avery Dunn, Sam Howell and Adrian Cowden.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, J. Michael Dunn.
