James K. Deppen, 64, of Saylorsburg passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, January 28, 2021. Born in Allentown he was the son of the late Donald P. and Ruth N. (Balmer) Deppen. He was the beloved husband of Karen L. (Graves) Deppen with whom he shared 20 years of marriage. James graduated from Dieruff High School and went on to attain his bachelor’s degree at Penn State University. He worked for USPS as a letter carrier retiring after 31 years of service. James was an avid sports fan who took great pride in Duke University Basketball as well as March Madness. He was always very optimistic at the beginning of the season for both the Philadelphia Eagles and the Phillies. He coached youth basketball for the Bethlehem Township Bulldogs. James was a member of First Baptist Church of Bethlehem where he regularly worshipped and served as the past president of The Christian Singles Network. Above all James enjoyed the beach, Christian concerts, cruising and time spent with his loved ones. 

Survivors: In addition to his wife Karen, James will be lovingly remembered by his son, Bryan J. Deppen and wife Courtney; daughter, Jennifer N. Deppen; stepdaughter, Amande L. Sodl and husband Kevin; brothers, Richard Deppen and wife Loretta and Robert Deppen; grandchildren, Xavier, Alexander, Gianna, Ada and Vera and many beloved nieces and nephews.
