James William “Jimmy” Highfield, 70, of Ewing, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Jimmy was born on June 3, 1952 in Fleming County Kentucky, to the late Carrol Highfield and Roberta Ann Dye Abner.

Jimmy loved the outdoors, mowing his yard, working in tobacco, doing farm work which he did all of his life, but most of all he loved sitting on the front porch and watching traffic pass by and throwing up his hand to speak to everyone. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Lee Highfield, his stepfather, Jim Robert Abner and his grandparents, Harlan and Hazel Dye.

Jimmy leaves behind his wife of 24 years, Rossetti Lynn Everman Highfield, two sons, James Austin Highfield (Beth Dixon) of Ewing and Darrell Latham (Sheila) of Tilton, one daughter, Brianna Lynn Highfield of Ewing, two brothers Johnny Abner and David Abner both of Ewing, five sisters Tinie Clark (Tim) and Patty Clark both of Ewing and Mary Lou Abner, Robyn Abner, and Lena Black all of Flemingsburg, five grandchildren, Brittany Latham, Caleb Latham, Elizabeth Latham, Jacob Latham, and Addison Latham, two great-grandchildren, Aleah Becker and Brooklyn Wright and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
