James (“Jim aka Jimmy”) of Phoenix, AZ passed away on August 3, 2022 after a battle with lung cancer. Jimmy was born on November 24, 1967 in Escondido, CA. In 1972, the family moved to Phoenix where Jimmy lived for the remainder of his life. He graduated from Horizon High School in 1986 and served in the U.S. Navy. In February 1995, he married Cheryl, his high school sweetheart. Together they had three children who were the lights of his life. He started his career in roofing with his father’s business and continued on to work for Gorman Roofing Services over 20 years. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family, rebuilding cars, and hunting. He also loved tinkering around in his “man cave” listening to classic rock, and playing Sunday golf with his friends. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Cheryl; his sons, Dustin and Kellan; daughter, Shelby; his father, James (Jim) Covey; mother, Esther Covey; step mother, Glenrose Covey; sister, Nikki Kuretich; his best friend, Brett Kuretich; and nieces, Jessica and Ashley. In addition, he has surrounded himself with a loving father-in-law Charlie, and mother-in-law Thelma, plus many other adoring fun-loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. We will forever miss his smile, sarcastic sense of humor and his companionship.
