James William “Jim” Noffsinger, 94, of Elkhart, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022 at Woodland Manor. Jim was born on April 29, 1928 in Elkhart, IN to the late William Frank and Josephine (Detwiler) Noffsinger. Jim married his true love, Carmelene M. Ambrose on September 2,1950 in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She passed on February 25, 2021 after 70 wonderful years of marriage.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, William and Josephine, grandson, Erich Grimske; also, three brothers Frank Noffsinger, Richard Noffsinger, John Noffsinger, and two sisters, Frances Jones, and Jeanie Cullen.
Jim is survived by his three daughters, Robin Wesaw of South Bend, Nikki Grimske and Michele Flager, both of Elkhart; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and his sister Delores (Roy) Haug of California.
Jim graduated in 1946 from Elkhart High School. He enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1954. He worked for over 30 years with his family, as the service manager at Elkhart Camera Center.
While his work life was important to him, Jim was a man of great faith and a longtime member and dedicated volunteer of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church and the school. He was the photographer for the school yearbook and served on the St. Vincent Cemetery Board for many years. Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1043, and an honorary member of the I.A.R.A. Jim was an avid and lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. “Go Cubs.” Jim will be remembered as a kind, generous and compassionate man, who loved his family, his faith, and his country.
